I have a mixed cardiac and thoracic surgical practice.
I perform general cardiac surgical procedures. However, my special interest is in aortic surgery; I regularly perform operations on aneurysms at proximal and distal aorta. I also perform mitral and aortic valve surgery.
In thoracic surgery, I have considerable experience in the management of lung , pleural and mediastinal surgical diseases. I have developed special interest in minimal invasive approaches including video assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) procedures and VATS lobectomy.

I am a professor (Hon) at the university of Salford, Manchester. I work closely with scientists at the department of Human Biology @ UoS, my interests are in myocardial cell function and inflammatory response after cardiac surgery.
My research special interest is in the inflammatory response to cardiac surgery.
I investigated patient's genetic profile and whether the presence of certain genes can lead to profound inflammatory response following cardiac surgery
I studied a few cytokines and my future research will be focused on interleukin-6 and TNF alpha
